Philip Seymour Hoffman directed the original production in 2005 with most of the actors doubling up, to fill most of the 27 characters that appear in this courtroom drama.
Director David Myles set the tone quickly and wanted this production to be a world first in that each actor would be casted to focus one role.

One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Monday 19, September 2011
Set in a mental hospital, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is an exuberant, boisterous and devastatingly honest portrayal of the boundaries between sanity and madness.
Nurse Ratchet, who equates sanity with correct behaviour, rules her ward with a strict and unbending routine, unopposed by her patients who remain controlled by mind numbing drugs and the threat of electric shock therapy. Her regime is disrupted by the arrival of McMurphy, a manic free spirit who resolves to dismantle any system, simply by living as he pleases.
This play is a comically sharp indictment of the Establishment urge to conform and reveals that escape is always possible, even from the most oppressive conditions.
And it is the truth – even if it didn’t happen.
